Snow White and 1 Dwarf

Okay, so this year we wanted to make sure that Brooklyn went as a Disney Princess for Halloween because we wanted to get her a Disney Princess dress for our Disneyland trip! When Brit took her to the store she fell in love with the Snow White dress, so Brooklyn was set. What we weren't sure of was what Carson was going to be for Halloween. After a lot of thought and deliberation, Brit came up with a great idea to dress Carson up as a dwarf! His costume was hilarious, oh and he HATED it! He definitely played the part of grumpy pretty well. We were hoping to take both him and Brooklyn to my work's Trunk or Treat and to my parent's house for Halloween, but things didn't work out that way. Instead the swine flu hit our home! Brooklyn got up to a 104 degree fever, Britney had major aches and pains, I got up to 103 degrees on multiple instances and somehow, Carson stayed healthy through it all. (For a while). Our Trunk or Treat at my work was on Thursday the week of Halloween and by then I was feeling quite a bit better, as were Brooklyn and Britney and Carson was still fine, so we went. The pics below were taken from my work's trunk or treat. Unfortunately though the next day Carson came down with the piggie flu, so on Halloween night Brooklyn and Britney went out trick or treating while Dooder and I stayed home. His being sick also lead to us cancelling our Disneyland trip. :(

Piglet Cancelled our Disneyland Trip

After Halloween our family suffered a pretty big blow when Carson came down with a high fever. We had hoped and prayed that he'd stay healthy and not get the Piggie flu, but unfortunately, he finally came down with it as well. As soon as the fever started we cancelled our trip to Disneyland. :( It was harder on Britney and I than on Brooklyn and Carson. Neither of them really understand what Disneyland is yet, so when we told them Brooklyn got sad, but not nearly as sad as Brit and I. We've saved and worked towards being able to take them and we felt like we had been robbed of a fun family experience. That combined with the fact that we've had to cancel 3 other trips we've scheduled in the past due to one of us being sick, really left us feeling jinxed. The last real vacation we went on was when Britney and I went to Disneyland before we became pregnant with Brooklyn, so it's been over 4 years since we've gone on a big family trip! I'm sure fate knows best, and there must be some sort of reason why we've had to cancel so many trips, but it still is a hard pill to swallow. Oh well, we're shooting for a spring time Disneyland trip now.

Disney on Ice

Brooklyn finally got to put her Snow White dress to good use last week when we took her and Carson to Disney on Ice. It was the best consolation prize we could come up with after having to cancel our Disneyland trip. We had a great time. Brooklyn was cute as ever, screaming and cheering whenever possible, she loved every minute of it. Carson really surprised us as well. He spent most of his night clapping and having a great time. He also spent a big part of his night trying to pick up on older women. The guy knows how to flirt! And apparently his eyes are cougar magnets. Seriously, he gets so much attention when we take him out it's hilarious. Plus if you've met Dooder, you'd know that he's just a happy go lucky guy which is fun to be around.

Anyways, Disney on Ice was great, Brooklyn loved it and the family's getting healthy (knock on wood). Hopefully our Piggie Flu experience will help us stay healthy for the rest of the winter.
